Not old enough

So, I have been letting Grace walk to the bus stop at the end of the street now for about a month. There are a lot of other kids and mom's (from out ward) that use the same bus stop at the same time so there is a lot of foot traffic. I thought she was old enough to maturely (since she acts like she should be 16, not 7) walk to the stop and pay attention to other kids, adults and cars. She does have to cross the street which stinks, but I thought she had learned her lesson from this past summer when she was hit by a car. She was very fortunate that she pretty much walked away from the accident. I got a call this morning from one of my friends and she informed me that Grace almost got hit by a car AGAIN this morning!! She was riding a scooter AGAIN, that I was not aware of and waited for the bus to pass then darted out to cross the the bus stop. There was a white car that came up behind the bus and Keri said it was really close. I did realize after Keri told me about it that the car today and the car this last summer were both white. I wonder if it is a coincidence? She said that Grace was physically shaking afterwards. I'm not sure what we are going to do about this. You want your kids to be safe and teach them the right things to do, but what happens when they don't learn? This may sound terrible, but sometimes I wish she would have gotten hurt a little more with the first accident so she realized that it was a serious thing and not everyone just walks away from something like that! One thing is for sure, she won't be riding scooters anymore!

I'm pretty overprotective, so I will probably be taking my kids to school until they graduate!

I can't believe this almost happened again. Maybe you should get her eyes checked. She might be blind ur something! This just made me sick.

She just had her eyes checked 6 months ago and she has the best vision you can have! She isn't allowed to have the scooter anymore and she has to either wait until the bus gets to the stop and then cross or cross with someone else from now on.
